You may be expecting me to explain my long absence by saying I've been "super busy", but the truth is, I haven't been.

2. Over the past few weeks, I've actually written many blog posts... and then deemed them unworthy to share with you and deleted them.

3. Okay, I guess you could say I have writers block.

4. I hate my job.

5. I love money.

6. This causes a minor conundrum.

7. I have recently discovered (okay, recently admitted) that I have a problem with getting close to people. I let them in enough to think that they know me, but before they can divulge in the secrets of soul, BOOM! Walls go up, and I push them away.

8. This will ultimately lead to me living alone, an old maid with 27 cats to keep me company.

9. This fact makes me more upset than I will let on.

10. I used to dream in fairytale endings.

11. I guess I already have the damsel in distress part down.

12. Where's a knight in shining armour when you need one?

13. And while I've always been a feminist and believed that a woman shouldn't depend on a man to rescue her (I even wrote a poem on it a couple years ago), the truth is I really want someone to save me.

14. And I'm going to need a lot of it. Saving, I mean.

15. Maybe I'll share that poem with you someday.

16. I have an issue with food.

17. I like to be in complete control of what I consume, planning everything out days in advance.

18. But I spiral into a depressive state if I loose will power and eat something unhealthy or just eat too much.

19. This is an issue because I do not have the greatest will power. And because ice cream is my favourite food in the whole world.

20. My mom thinks I'm on the verge of an eating disorder.

21. This is not true.

22. I think.

23. You know how when you are feeling sad about your appearance you are supposed to pick out the things you like about yourself to make you feel better? I can't find anything I like.

24. This depresses me.

25. Books are my best friends.

26. This also depresses me.

27. I have an issue with this guy at work and I don't know what to do about it.

28. I love coffee.

29. I cried during a Glee episode and I'm not embarrassed to admit it.

30. I got Vine and then realized I don't have a life and therefore do not do anything that I can post a video about.

31. On the topic of smart phone apps, Snap Chat is really stupid.

32. Reorganizing my bookshelf has been the highlight of my week.

33. I got in a fight with my dad last night.

34. I feel pretty bad about it.

35. I told myself I was going to go to the gym tonight, but I probably wont.

36. This list has turned out way more depressing than I intended...

My friend and I have this ongoing thing where we never like the same love interest in a book. I was Team Gale, she was Team Peeta. I was Team Edward, she was Team Jacob (DISCLAIMER: This was before the movie came out because Taylor Lautner is hot and Robert Pattinson is... well, not!). She shipped Stelena and I shipped Delena. In Enna Burning by Shannon Hale I even fell for Sileph but she knew all along that (spoiler alert!) he was evil.

Once, just once, we agreed on the same character. That was in the Host, and just to be clear, we both loved Ian (duh).

But why are love triangles so popular?

I get that they create conflict but sometimes I feel like they take over too much of the plot (cough! Twilight). And ultimately, it just sucks when the main character chooses the <strike>wrong </strike>love interest you weren't rooting for. And right there the author looses half of their fan base!

There are usually five possible situations:

1. You like the 'right' guy. Congratulations! You fell for the same guy the author had in mind the entire time. Unfortunately, you were forced to put up with the main character's relentless debating and cringe through 'romantic' scenes with the other guy. But in the end it wont matter because you will be happy... until the author decides to make the love doves terminally insane, switch point of views, or make a movie out of it and cast only one good looking actor.

Some examples of books where I experienced this situation are Twilight, the Host, and Vampire Academy.

2. You like the 'wrong' guy (and you didn't see it coming). Sucks to be you because now you have to put up with tons of romance between the main character and the guy you don't like. And what happens to your guy once he's been rejected? You'll never find out. If you're lucky, there will be some offhand comment mentioning he ended up in district three, he's finishing his education at Stanford, or he's off "finding himself" somewhere. Might as well put the book down now and save yourself boat loads of frustration.

A (huge) example of where this happened to me was while reading the Hunger Games.

3. You like the wrong guy, but you see it coming. By this I don't mean that you're friend already spoiled the ending for you or you saw the movie before reading the book. I mean, you're rooting for the guy who's practically the antagonist. Yikes, I know.

This happened to me with Shatter Me. I just think Warner and Juliette bring out the best in each other. They need each other. Of course, the series hasn't ended yet so there's still a chance. But I'm like 99.9% convinced she will end up with Adam.

3. The author jerks you in every direction. You go from liking one guy, then he does something stupid and you like the other guy, but then the this guy leaves the picture and you go back to liking the first guy, and just when you think she'll finally settle down, BAM the other guy reenters and steals the main character's heart right back. What just happened? I'm confused...

Unearthly did this to me big time! At first I liked Christian then Tucker then Christian again, and then Tucker again and GAH! I couldn't even remember who I was rooting for by the end of it, I was just happy she picked someone and stuck with it!

4. You like a guy who's not even in the running. Awkward.

This happened to me in Legacy. London was just so amazing and it was that far of a stretch to imagine him and Alera ending up together.

5. You don't even like the main character. Um, Twilight. Just saying...

So that's why I don't really like love triangles. They cause more frustration than good and when done incorrectly, they can completely overpower the plot. And yes, by saying that I am implying there is correct way to pull off a love triangle. Take Hourglass by Myra McEntire or Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead for example. Both of the authors managed to create some tension in the form of a love triangle, while not letting it take over the entire storyline. They also didn't conveniently brush off the other love interest. In fact, Myra McEntire switched to Keith's POV for the second book and gave him his own love interest. And Richelle Mead even put Adrian in her spin off series, Bloodlines, which is about Sydney Sage (AH! I ship Adrian and Sydney so hard!). Although I admit to being sceptical at first, I found it to be an excellent tactic for everyone because now people who liked Adrian/Keith get more of them and people who didn't like them at first (i.e. me) get to see them grow and develop as characters and learn to love them too.

Here's a list of some more of the love interests I liked for popular books:

I thought you all deserved an update on my wonderfully fabulous life, cause, you know, you care.

And I love you for it! <3

And I know I've so overused the whole list thing, buuuuuuut I'm going to do it again anyways because I like lists and I don't care! :)

1. Oh gosh, now I don't know where to start! Ok, how about with where a spend a majority of my time: WORK. My bosses are super chill and really awesome and I like my job... usually. Occasionally a co-worker may spill blue pool cleaner in my hair, I now hate the song Wagon Wheel because it plays twenty times a day on the station we listen too, and <strike>often</strike> sometimes the customers are downright rude and obnoxious (No, it's not my fault that vinyl in the repair kit is clear not blue so please don't yell at me at me. No, I cannot change the price of chlorine for you. And I got a C- in chemistry so please don't argue with me about pH and alkalinity because I DON'T KNOW). But all in all, it's a good job with good hours meaning good $$. (And there are some nice customers too!)

2. On another work related topic: My boss's feelings towards me confuse me. Well, just one. The BIG boss. Like, the guy who owns the place. Here's my deal: people like me. They just do. I am friendly, and therefore people I meet generally like me... until proven otherwise. I am not used to people not liking me (unless I don't like them back) and it bother's me to no end! What did I do to make them not like me and how can I fix it so they do like me!? There are two girls and they like me, one middle man, and he is indifferent towards me (which still bother's me but whatever). But the big boss sometimes seems like he likes me and sometimes he doesn't. So how am I supposed to know if I should keep doing what I'm doing or if I need to change to be more ... likable? Maybe I should bake cupcakes or something so he likes me... do I have a problem? Okay don't answer that.

3. This is another work(ish) topic so bear with me. The big boss is really good looking. And he's only in his twenties so don't look at me like that! I'm not creepy. He's got a cute, boy-ish face, but he is fit, muscular but not like steroids-buff, and really tan. He wears really nice jeans though, that fit perfectly (or not so perfectly, I guess, depending on how you look at it) ... which could also mean he's gay. His eyes though, are his best feature. They are like liquid pools of amber and I want them ! Okay, maybe I'm a little bit creepy...

4. I got a gym membership! Yay! I know I said I wasn't going to because they are pretty expensive but then my friend brought me in for a free trial and I loved it so much I stayed! Now's I'm going to bring some more of my friends to the gym and we can all work out together! :)

5. So one of my friends (the one who brought me to the gym) is trying to reconnect me with a previous friend of mine... but this friend basically stabbed me in the back last summer when I got in a fight with a mutual friend of ours and that mutual friend told all of our other friends that if they wanted to stay friends with her they couldn't be friends with me. And everyone chose her. Even some people who I considered my best friends, like the girl my gym friend is trying to get me to hang out with again. Even though my gym friend doesn't know about last summer at all. Gah! If you could decipher any of that please give me some advice! I don't know what to do and right now, I am going out to a sports bar with both of them on friday!

6. I have herby decided that my all-time favourite song will henceforth be She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5. No matter what songs I like for a period of time, this is the one I always come back to. Always.

7. But um, on the subject of music, have you heard Demi Lovato's new album? Cause it is AWESOME! I love Demi so much! <3

9. Don't hate me, but I only just watched Rise of the Guardians... BUT OMG I FRIGGING LOVED IT! The Feels! I don't know why, but I have such strong emotions when it comes to the name Jack. Like, if I met someone tall, dark, and handsome with the name Jack, I would marry him. So needless to say, I loved this movie! Gah, so much! I also feel like Jack Frost's character was just so perfectly portrayed! And I have a slight hero complex... oh well!

I just found out the UK has a different Mother's Day! What!) but I was too busy yesterday having fun with my mom. I still really wanted to tell you about my day because it was pretty awesome, which was a surprise. A good surprise, don't get me wrong. But a surprise none the less.

Past mother's days have always been touchy topics for me. For two reasons, 1) my relationship with my mom has always been pretty rocky (working on rectifying that though!) and 2) my parents don't get along, but they are not divorced and still live under the same roof.

My dad was in Toronto visiting family this past weekend though, which could be the reason my mom was in such a good mood.

Anyways, my brother and I did the whole breakfast in bed thing, like always, with the homemade cards and small gifts (I got her a travel mug because she has this habit of leaving the house with a mug of coffee and not realizing).

When you were little did you give your mom coupons for presents? Like: I'll wash the dishes, or twenty free hugs. Well I did, and yesterday my mom finally redeemed a rather weird one that said "Redeem for one free handmade Macaroni Crown".

Unfortunately, we didn't have any macaroni so I had to make due with penne. I think it turned out quite nicely! So did my mom ;)

After church, we went downtown to this little deli called the Piggy Market which had really good sandwiches and, get this, homemade dark chocolate BACON ice cream! It was so good! I mean, obviously. Bacon, chocolate and ice cream are my favourite foods, why wouldn't I expect them to make a delicious combination? We decided that it was going to be our new Mother's Day tradition! Don't you love it when new traditions are born?

We also ended up going out to dinner later at this really good Vietnamese place and on our way there we saw the brightest double rainbow ever! And you could see both ends! It was so pretty and I wish I could show you a picture but they are on my mom's phone which I don't know how to work :P

I'm really glad that my mom and I are getting along better now. I've started to treat her more like a friend and less of a parental figure. We still have our moments, but things are ... better. I hope things get even better as I get older!

It was like, dreary and snowy and then BAM! 27 degrees (Celsius) outside, sunny, and I've even got a sun tan! Don't get me wrong, I love the summer, but I just feel like spring was neglected. I like spring weather, where you can smell the snow melting and the rejuvenation of nature. It's just so calming and a nice was to ease into the summer heat. But whatever, I'm not complaining about the heat, it's ten million times better than winter.

Since the weather was nice enough, I decided to take my beautiful camera out of hibernation! Yay! It deserved some TLC and since my mother is always badgering me to takes pictures of our barn I took my favourite model (my dog, Wesley) and went to work.

Let me explain the whole barn thing. No, I do not live on a farm, though occasionally we get chickens and sheep and sometimes goats on our property. But that's only because I live next to a farm. The people who own the farm used to own a lot of property including my family's. Our house is close enough to the original owner's that an old barn foundation was left on our property. I call it "the Ruins" and it makes an excellent background for photography.

Here's a collaboration of some of the barn pics I just took and some of the ones I took last summer.

You guys don't mind, do you? I'll do my best not to give away any spoilers (but it will be hard).
There is something so appealing about being a spy. The secrets, the gadgets, the elusiveness, and the overall bad ass-ness! I loved the main character, Maggie. She was witty and sarcastic, basically the perfect combination for a teen spy. The plot was good, however found it was just missing that little ... oomph! which is all that's keeping me from giving it a five on five stars. It's still a very good book, and if you love espionage, I suggest you pick it up!

Next on my list is a biggie! I'd been waiting until I finished school to read it so I could fully enjoy it by reading it all in one sitting! OMG, I just cannot wait to gush about this book: Perfect Scoundrels by Ally Carter!

And then I was sure nothing could beat Uncommon Criminals. But Ally Carter has outdone herself, yet again, with Perfect Scoundrels. It's amazing, nail-bitting, heart-crushing, beautiful, and just ... perfect! All at the same time. Ally Carter, how do you create such works of art? I guess if I had to choose between being a spy and being a thief, I would choose thief. As long as I was a good thief, like Kat. I don't know if I can talk about this book much more without giving too much away, but I will say this. One thing I loved loved loved LOVED, was the development of the Kat-Hale relationship in this book. In the other two books, I just felt it was an awkward, I like you, you like me kind of this but there is much more focus on the two in instalment. If you haven't read this series, DO IT. And if by some wrong, twist of fate, you have never even touched an Ally Cater book, DO IT NOW. And then read the Gallagher Girls series. :)

GAH! And then OMG! But the ending, oh the ending! It was so perfect. Except then... askjklsdjlkhg! All I can say is if you love books that are action packed and suspenseful with some romance thrown in for good measure, you'll love the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. The Indigo Spell is the third book in this series, but even before that, there was another series called Vampire Academy which if you have not read, you absolutely have to. I know you are probably thinking it's a risk because so many vampire books turn out to be flops or just way to complicated to follow, but this one is not like that at all! I promise!

To say it was a challenge would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong! I had some great times this year and I can honestly tell you it was a great experience! But... there were some struggles and some difficulties that I had to overcome. I hope that I haven't scared you in previous posts by complaining about how hard university is. I'm just a very dramatic person! In retrospect, your university/college experience will be whatever you make of it. Here are some helpful tips I have learned along the way that will help you to make the best of time in your first year of post-secondary education.

1) Stay in residence your first year. I know this is a personal decision that could take in many different factors, but I highly recommend you stay in residence your first year. Most of the friends I made were on my floor. It's different for every person, but I think that as long as you make an effort to be friendly and welcoming, other people will too, and your bound to make friends! Just remember, everyone there is as nervous as you are about making friends.

I admit that there were times when I hated living in residence. It was small and crowded, and I had to share a 5-stall, 3-shower co-ed bathroom with 28 other people but when I look back, I wouldn't have met all the people I did if I wasn't in residence.

2) Participate in orientation/frosh activities. This is a biggie. Whether or not you decide to stay in residence, you absolutely have to participate in orientation week. Because a) it is your first opportunity to explore the campus and know your way around, b) it's another good way to make friends (especially if you are not living in residence), and c) it's your time to show your school spirit!

Lots of schools pride themselves on their school spirit and traditions. I nearly lost my voice during my frosh week from cheering so much. There were football games, a carnival, coverall painting, concerts, dances, rolling in the dirt, and free stuff. Can't forget about the free stuff!

3) Stay organized. Okay, we're on to the educational stuff now. Things can get pretty hectic with classes and it can overwhelm you very easily. Get an agenda or a day planner where you can write things down like test dates and assignments (Proffs might not tell you these exact dates in class, so be sure to check the class's website frequently). On top of that, be organized with your notes. If you have neat handwriting, keep organized notebooks/binders. If not (or if you simply prefer it), use your laptop and have specific folders for each class. And remember to write the date on every note!

4) Don't freak out if you don't like a class. This was difficult for me to accept, but it's okay to switch classes. Look at me! I'm switching to a completely different program! If it's too late in the year to switch, that's okay too. You can stick it out for the rest of the class and take something different next year.

5) Be educated on your meal-plan. Meal plans are complicated. There are so many different rules and restrictions, that it can sometimes be easy to mess up and be out of meals for the week! Ooops! I even knew some people who had used up all their meals for the year way before school ended. It really depends on how your school does meal plans, but I recommend getting the biggest meal plan option offered, even if you don't think you're going to eat that much.

6) Scope out the places to eat on campus. On the topic of food, it's a good idea to check out all the cafeterias and restaurants that will take your meal card. I went over half the year without discovering this amazing salad bar that I absolutely loved, and I'm kicking myself for not taking full advantage of that.

7) Explore the library. So I know that many of you are probably like me and consider the public library a second home. However, school libraries can be very intimidating. I highly recommend you do a little exploring and find a room in the library that suits you, and spend a little time after class everyday, or even every second day, doing some work in the library. This will get to comfortable with the atmosphere and you'll get a ton of work done. Even if you think you can work in your room, trust me, you wont. The internet is way to appealing.

8) Get comfortable with the gym. Even if you're not an exercise person (like I wasn't), become one (like I did). I'm serious. The gym is a great way to blow off stress and even if you hate exercising, you feel great afterwards (I speak from experience). The gym became my happy place because it was somewhere I could go where I wasn't technically procrastinating because it was healthy... but I technically wasn't doing work either. A good compromise.

If you're interested, the gym at your school will most likely offer some great fitness classes and programs. I got involved in one called Turbo Kick, which is basically the love child of kick boxing and dance. These are a really fun way to hang out with your friends and to get a great work out too!

9) Don't forget to take some "Me Time". This may seem like an overused cliche, but I'm serious. In the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced university life, you can easily forget to take care of yourself too. Take some time to read, watch a movie, go for ice cream, or paint your nails every once in a while. Don't procrastinate and leave your work to the last minutes, but don't get to caught up in it either. Take a breather to de-stress your life and do something for your self. It's a mental health thing.

10) Don't panic. It's easy to freak out if you get a bad grade, but don't worry about it too much because it's not the end of the world. Just make the necessary improvements to do better next time. Something I really regret about this past year is that I spent most of it worrying. Learn from my mistakes!

I hope this gives you guys a little bit of an idea about what university/college is like (if you haven't already experienced it for yourself yet) and I really hope you find these tips useful. Just remember it's a learning experience and I time for you to grow as a person. I'm not trying to be one of those people who tell you "This is where you'll find yourself/your place in life" cause the truth is, you may not. I sure didn't! What I'm trying to tell you is to make the most of your university/college experience and to enjoy it. If you put the effort in, your sure to have a great time!

Numero Uno: You may have noticed by now, but this is a different font. Yes, this is Helvetica. Why did I change my font, you may be asking. Well, because everyone gets bored of Times New Roman some times! (And, truthfully, because I finally figured out what all the buttons do at the top when I was fiddling around trying to fix that stupid white box that appeared in my last post.)

Dos: A BIG BIG hug to everyone who wished my luck on my physics exam! It really helped. Also, I have a new lucky sweater to go along with my lucky socks.

Tres: For my job interview which is on thursday, I need to have a two minute speech prepared on any topic I like so they can evaluate my public speaking skills. OMG! I need your help deciding what to write about. I need to be something I'm passionate about so I can do a good job but these are the only things I'm passionate about:

- Good books

- Jennifer Lawrence

- Disney movies

- Harry Potter

- Hating Twilight

But um, which of those is going to impress my possible future-employers??? Although, once in grade eleven, I wrote a kick-ass essay on why Harry Potter is Better than Twilight. And I got a really good mark on it too! Plus my teacher hadn't read either series so wasn't biased at all. Proudest moment of my life... no big deal.

I have been nominated for Liebster award again! I am honoured you guys! I feel like Jennifer Lawrence right now, seriously.

She's so awesome. My number one girl crush. Without a doubt.

Right, back on topic!

So I was actually nominated by two people for this award so I decided to go ahead and do them both at the same time. So bear with me, this may be a long post. Plus, I'm going to cheat a bit, because I don't know if you noticed, but eleven is a rather large number!

First off, I'd like to thank Treskie from Occasional Randomness and Becky in Blue from Teen Reviews for nominating me for this wonderful award! I highly recommend you check out their blogs because they are AWESOME!

Now I post 11 random facts about myself: (Be warned, I'm slightly over-tired and hyped up on caffeine)

1. I always type 'myslef' instead of 'myself' by accident and have to go back and fix it. Every time.

2. I'm listening to some good old Xtina right now. And rocking out. "Sweet, sugar candyman!"

3. I have a physics exam tomorrow.

4. I'm going to fail it.

5. In an attempt to pass, I will be wearing my lucky socks, my lucky necklace, and my friend's lucky necklace.

6. Yes, I have lucky socks. But don't worry, I wash them.

7. Is it number eleven yet?

8. I got a job interview today! It's for this historical landmark in my town and if I get the job, I get to wear and "Period Costume".

9. No, a "period costume" is not hair up, hair up, all-grey sweat suit complete with ice cream and Midol. It basically means I get to dress like Anne of Green Gables.

10. Speaking of Anne of Green Gables, I finally finished reading Pride and Prejudice!

11. Now that I think about it, those two things don't have much in common. But, well... whatever.

On two part two!

First I will answer the questions from Becky in Blue:

Feels Like Home - by Chantal Kreviazuk. This song has a very personal backstory for me. When I was in grade eleven, me and twenty other students went to live in the Domincan Republic with local families for a week and we brought donations that we spent all year fundraising. This was our theme song for the trip. It was an irreplaceable, eye-opening experience and I can't listen to this song anymore without crying.

Today I write to you from... The Land of The Undead!

Duh duh .... duh!

(I hope that was as dramatic for you as it was for me.)

Okay, so maybe it's the fact that I've been up past 3 am every night for the past week, or maybe the stress from exams is starting to take a toll on my mental stability, but I'm really starting to feel like a zombie. And looking around the library at 10:00 at night, I can tell I'm not the only one.

The Land of the Undead, otherwise known as the library, is currently housing a number of <strike>students</strike> zombies who looks as though they are going to fall asleep on their keyboards, and a few of them actually have.

Instead of braaaaaains, we are all like "coffeeeeeee!"

... although maybe brains might be more helpful when trying to pass exams? I wonder if I can get them anywhere with my meal card?

Ok, to the point!

What I really wanted to show you was this:

Dove did this amazing beauty campaign to show just how much women underestimate their beauty. It's absolutely eye opening to realize just how much of a difference a change of perspective can make. What really struck me is that you can be so hung up on one minor detail about your self that you don't like, maybe you think your nose is to big, or you have too many freckles, but other people don't notice that. They see your smile, and your eyes, or the little dimples on your cheeks. So why worry about it so much?

Now, if I sat here trying to teach you how to have a good self image, I would be the first to call myself a hypocrite. I know that a good self esteem is very hard to obtain. I struggle with body issues everyday. But I think this video may have put me a step in the right direction. I highly recommend you take a look.

Now, I have heard the critics, and yes I understand where they are coming from when they say "You are more than just beautiful." This is true, but you don't need to hate on this campaign for it. Dove wasn't saying that physical beauty is all that maters. They were trying to give women everywhere a self esteem boost, so that they could begin to view themselves more positively. Everyone deserves to know that they are beautiful, inside and out. Because that's what's true.
Just thought I'd give you all a quick update (at midnight nonetheless) on the current state of my sanity!

Honestly though? It's hanging on. By a thread. But by some force of sheer will power I did not know I had, I'm getting through it.

Sometimes I wonder though...

Like, why is that I could barely keep my eyes open long enough to integrate a differential equation this afternoon, but now that it's midnight, I'm bouncing off the walls like "Sleep? Who needs sleep? Ooh, I want hot chocolate! Let's watch the Lizzie Bennet Diaries again, cause it's not like I've seen them a hundred times already!"

... and I don't even like hot chocolate.

But here I am, sipping luke warm, watery hot chocolate, informing you once again, just how weird I am. As if you needed any further proof!

I will now let you know the secret to my miraculous strength. You're going to like this.

The library.

I know! Who would have thought?!

Okay, but it's not just any library. They call it the "Harry Potter Room". Unofficially, of course. But it is great. I know this because I've practically been living in it the past week.

The minute you step through the heavy oak doors, you can tell this room dates back to the birth of my precious school. Tall, stuffed bookshelves line the perimeter, surrounding the rows of antique, wooden desks. The desks are sectioned into individual cubbies and equipped with their own lamps. Candelabras hang on the walls, and although they have long since been replaced by lightbulbs and plastic candles, the effect is still appreciated. Magnificent stained glass windows reach up to the high ceilings, letting in just enough natural light to cast a dim atmosphere.

It was strange but the environment is just so different from anywhere else. You really feel like you have stepped into a different time. And goodness, I can actually work in there! I get so much accomplished and the time flies. It's like there is actually a spell cast on this room. One that can turn even the biggest procrastinator into an over achiever!

I'm kicking myself for not having discovered this room sooner! I mean, everyone on campus talks about it, but I never had the guts to actually test out it's magical properties myself.

Don't get me wrong, I love normal libraries (my own mother is a librarian - no late fees for me!) but school libraries can be intimidating. Out of the four libraries my school has, I'd only been in two and it was very difficult not to run away screaming. I just couldn't get any work done in them. They were too modern and the lighting was too bright.

So thank goodness for the Harry Potter Room. If you're looking for me, that's where I'll be. (Please bring coffee!)

Since when did that happen?

I guess I should be excited that it's April because that mean I only have one week of school left! And then ... exams. And then ... SUMMER! Which technically just means I have to find a full time job that hires students for only four months (read: impossible) asap or my mother will kill me.

Exams. Yikes. I will warn you, within the next month, I may go temporarily insane. Okay... temporarily more insane than usual... My mental breakdowns are already becoming more frequent.

Sorry for being so MIA again. I've actually been going through a pretty though time right now. I'm just so overwhelmed that I've been getting anxiety attacks even just thinking about everything that needs to be done. It doesn't help that my self esteem is in a dip and my one friend who I actually can talk to about things like this is just as busy as me so we don't get any time to hang out. Hence, the fact that I'm spending most of my time alone in my room.

I called my mom yesterday to talk about my schedule and she started reading off the symptoms of depression from some website. I'm serious. She thinks I need counselling.

But despite me mother's lack of faith in my mental stability, talking to her did heighten my spirits slightly :)

Plus I have you guys! You always make me smile :D

Ok, so since it's already April, and I've been such an absentee blogger for the most of it, I guess I should tell you how my last week has been!

April Things:

1. I'm currently reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. To say I'm obsessed may be a slight understatement.

2. Ever since I came back from reading week I haven't been able to stomach even the thought of eating cafeteria food. Recently, my friend introduced me to the wonders of The Grill and Pita Pit (both of which are on my meal plan so I don't have to spend $$). The Grill makes the best salads in the whole world (or at least on campus) and I always get the same thing: small salad with grilled chicken, goat cheese, carrots, red peppers, dried cranberries, walnuts and maple dressing. So goooood! I've practically had one for dinner every single night.

3. Lately I've been craving smoothies, like, all the time. Last week I went on a full on hunt all over campus for a smoothie because the booster juice was closed! :(

4. 25 Things to Make You Smile Number 4 literally made me cry.

5. I've been watching this show Psych and I absolutely love it! It's so funny!

6. Peanut Butter and Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter, a.k.a. Heaven in a Jar. It's like my two favourite foods combined! I think I'm addicted to it.

7. If there was ever a song to perfectly describe my life at the moment, this would be it.

That's all for now!
Hopefully I wont be so MIA from now on!

11 questions from Dani:

1. If you could go back in time, would you choose a specific era in history? If so, which one and why?
This is actually a tricky question for me because there are so many different eras I'd like to go visit! I think my top choice would have to be the end of the Progressive Era of the Unites States, specifically the 1920s. I love woman's fashion in the 20s and I could so picture myself as a flapper! My other choices would be the Victorian era (in Europe) because I've always wanted to wear a hoop skirt, and the Ancient periods of Greece and/or Rome because I'd love to experience that culture. The only thing I'm a little bit skeptical about is the whole plumbing situation, or rather, the lack of one.

2. What would you like to do on a Sunday evening?
Relax with a hot cup of tea and a good book. (This rarely ever happens, though, because Sunday is when I usually do all the homework I neglected to do during the week!)

3. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I'd really like to be able to pause time so that everything around me would be froze, but I'd still be able to move around and do things. Or I'd like to be able to turn invisible.

4. What do you like the most about blogging?
My favourite part about blogging is 'meeting' new people!

5. Name two of your life goals.
To be a published author, and to find happiness.

6. Do you speak any other languages?
Um... do gibberish and pig-latin count?

7. One person, one question. Who and what would it be?
Meg Cabot and probably 'will you be my best-friend?' though if I ever actually met Meg Cabot, I'd most likely be speechless.

8. What is/was your favourite subject at school?
Writer's Craft class (a.k.a. Creative Writing).

9. Is there any movie or book that has changed your life in a significant way?
Meg Cabot's 'Code Name Cassandra' from the 1-800-Where-R-You series (or the Vanished series). This was the first Meg Cabot book I ever read, and it inspired me to want to become a writer.

10. What is your favourite holiday?
Christmas!

11. Do you have a quote that you live by?
There are quite a few but here is my all time favourite:
"Of course it's happening inside your head, Harry, but why on Earth should that mean it is not real?" (From Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)

No, it's not 1+1=2, nor is it "What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?" (24 mph btw... LBD!)

The answer is "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

That's right. From kindergarden to grade twelve, <strike>even</strike> especially university, people are always asking you what you want to be when you grow up. Of course in kindergarden, the answers are mostly generic things like a fire fighter, a teacher, a cow boy, a mom. When I was in kindergarden, I wanted to be a princess... or a spy. Or better yet a top secret princess-spy! Heck, if someone offered me that job today, I'd take it in a heart beat!

As you grow older, it's expected that your answer to this question will become more refined. I remember when I was fourteen being handed a bunch of papers and being told I had one week to figure my life out. One week! Okay, so maybe not my entire life (it was after all, just deciding what classes I wanted to take next year), but it felt like a HUGE deal at the time. I was only fourteen! What does a fourteen year-old know about the future?

Four years later and I still don't have my life figured out. Who would have thought? I've certainly tried many things, and failed at many things. I may not know what I want to do, but I certainly know what I don't want to do.

Actually, I have a pretty good idea of the jobs I'd like to have. Top of the list, for instance, would be if someone paid me to read books. I also would not mind being a professional blogger, or a taste-tester for a bakery. You know, jobs that don't require me to wake up before 9:30.

Here's another stupid question I got asked a lot: "Where do you picture yourself in 10 years?" ... um, anywhere but here. That would have been my answer throughout high school, but I don't think that's exactly what they were looking for.

Now, I think I have a pretty good idea of what I where I want to be, and while "anywhere but here" is still included, my answer is a bit more refined. Here is what I hope my life will look like in the future.

1. I am <strike>hopefully</strike> a published author. Because this is the most realistic of my dream jobs. I just actually have to finish something I write...

2. I have a house/apartment/condo. I honestly only care that it's nice and that it's mine. I so badly want a place of my own. With a kitchen.

3. The house/apartment/condo is located somewhere where the words "snow" and "winter" aren't part of the vocabulary. (I will however, visit my parents for Christmas. Because it just isn't Christmas without snow.)

4. I want to cook and bake and photographically document everything I eat (healthy of course) and possibly blog about everyone of those things! Which is why the above kitchen is necessary. (I told you guys about my food-blog obsession, right? Well did you know I follow around 40 food-blogs?)

5. I am married. Please dear God, let there be someone out their who can put up with all my nonsense and ramblings and all over weirdness!

6. Me and my imaginary dream guy eloped, by the way. I can't deal with weddings... or more specifically weddings + my mother. After our top-secret elopement in some far away, tropical land, we will come back and do the whole reception thing just so no one in our families hates me... and so I can wear a nice dress.

7. How far in the future are we talking here? Because at some point I want to have a kid (just one) but I'm not sure how soon. Haven't quite worked out all details... except for the name! Maybe I'll even adopt.

There are still plenty of loose ends. Obviously!

And I kind of have to suffer through school first. I hear getting a degree is kind of important.Darehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05422222179706234915noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4390900406905637057.post-51571494840716776462013-03-24T18:49:00.003-07:002013-03-24T18:49:54.502-07:00Awkward Dare Makes an AppearanceDo you ever have those moments where all you can think is, "Idiot! Why am I so stupid?!"

I get those a lot. But today's ... today's "why am I so stupid" is ten times worse than the "I left my huge, 25% of my final grade bio paper till the last minute - why am I so stupid" or the "I just inhaled half a jar of peanut butter - why am I so stupid" and doesn't even compare to the "I just read three books when I should have been studying for finals - why am I so stupid".

(... on second thought, that last one wasn't so bad. Books always take priority in my life. And, hey, I still passed!)

I guess you're wondering right about now what exactly I did that was so stupid. Well, dear internet companions, I made the biggest fool of myself ever.

To tell you this story (I promise I'll try and keep it short. Stick to the details) I'll have to go back to the beginning of the school year.

So I kind of had this friend, and yes, he was a guy. Yes, he was pretty good looking, and maybe I fantasized a little about this friendship turning into something ... more. Things were going great too... er, sort of. If you can base a friendship off of texting every single day but rarely seeing each other in person. But considering I talked to him more than I ever talked to my ex-boyfriend when we were still dating, I thought it was pretty good. I mean, he even texted me first sometimes! That's never happened to me before!

So here we are and things are fine, but the BAM! Radio silence. I don't know what happened (actually, this was partially my fault but it's a really long story and I'd I probably bore your ears off).

Then he only started texting me when he was drunk. Not okay (this now justifies my part of the sudden silent treatment - again, long story). For a bit, I texted him back when he would drunk-text me. But then I gave up when at 2 am one morning I get a message that read "Ur hot." I don't know if he sent it or if one of his friend's sent it, but I had had enough.

And we haven't spoken since.

I see him around all the time (we have some of the same classed together), he just never see's me (the classes are really big... okay so maybe I'm looking for him. But is that so wrong? Part of me always hopes he is looking for me to. )

Cut to this afternoon when an unsuspecting Dare is trudging up the many staircases of the gym and guess who is walking down them. Guess who she nearly ran smack-dab into because she wasn't watching where she was going? Guess who, when she finally looked up, could only stare, slack jawed at. That's right: the boy she once had a <strike>huge</strike> crush on.

I swear it was the longest two seconds of my life. My brain was literally screaming "Say 'Hi'. You can't just stand there. Say SOMETHING!"

But I just couldn't form words. And then he walked on my, without saying anything. To make matters worse, I turned around once the shock had worn off. I wanted to amend this awkward encounter, but he was already gone, and he didn't look back.

I <strike>was</strike> still am mortified. This is what I do, though. I am a ruiner. I take perfectly good things and I ruin them.

The only good thing I could think of to say to myself during my run afterwards, as if it was any consolation, was at least I had run into him pre-work out, so my face wasn't all red and sweaty. Show him what he's missing...

Yeah, probably not.
Darehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05422222179706234915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4390900406905637057.post-44515010071910232822013-03-23T19:27:00.000-07:002013-03-23T19:27:24.900-07:00The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Oh. Em. Gee. I have no words.

Ok, I kind of have words but they sound a little something like this:

ASDFGHHKJLLIEHILFLKAHFKJHFHKSJJFJJKSASDHGFJHKLAJKGDSKJHJEOUKNZCMNALKHDKSJHFKDHGKHFKAJFJSHLKJFSAGAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

That was my reaction to episode 98. Followed by repeatedly raping the replay button. I'm sorry but ... OMG, the FEELS!

Have you seen the Lizzie Bennet Diaries? No!? OMG* you absolutely have to watch it! Go! Right now! I'll even post the the link to the first episode right .... here! They are a vlog-style, modern retelling and hilarious adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Not convinced yet? Oh, just go watch them!

... Are you in love yet? I know I am! Because what's not to love when there's a little bit of this:

OMG! These are so amazing, funny, and super addicting! I watched all the episodes straight in a row! Not kidding.

But now I'm all caught up, and it's telling me I have to wait until Monday to see the next episode! Like, WHAT? This is so not fair. I need to know what happens NOW! Replaying episode 98 will not keep me satisfied for much longer!

These make me want to read Pride and Prejudice so so so badly! And I've tried the classics thing before, A Tale of Two Cities, Jane Eyre... much too wordy for me. But I absolutely must get my hands on a Jane Austen book right this instant! I'm sure my mom has a copy lying around somewhere...

*I would like to apologize for the amount of time I said "OMG" and typed in caps in this post. Those are just unfortunate side affects of fangirl-ing.

Do you ever have one of those days that makes you think "Why does the world hate me?", and all you want to do is curl up in a cozy little ball, watch Amanda Bynes movies and inhale a jar of peanut butter (not that I've ever done that, of course...)

Today is one of those days for me. Well, only half-a-jar-of-peanut-butter day, but it was still pretty crappy. (Don't judge me. It was dark chocolate peanut butter! Who can resist dark chocolate peanut butter?)

I'm just exhausted and swamped with school work. So swamped in fact, that I barely have time to eat properly during the day (for example, the peanut butter incident). But what better (and calorie-free) way to cheer me up than to go shoe shopping! Yes, I get to go shoe shopping tomorrow and I am pumped!

The thought of shoe shopping has me so excited that I was reminded of a shoe related story I thought I would share with you.

So each Christmas it's kind of become tradition that my little brother and I are allowed to ask for one (semi) splurge item from our parents. We get small gifts and stocking stuffers on the side, but it's all about that one thing you <strike>are praying</strike> just know you're find under the tree in the morning.

So this past Christmas, I asked for new boots. But not just any boots, oh no. These were $300, quality leather, riding-style boots from Roots that scream authenticity, candadien-ness, and all around gorgeousness.

There was one slight problem. Oh, it wasn't that I didn't get them. My mom even loved them so much, she accidentally ordered two pairs and they just happened to be exactly her size. So yeah, we're twinsies now. Or, at least we would have been, if I could wear mine!

You see, these boots had one slight, itsy-bitsy problem: they are almost knee length and don't have a zipper. Yup. You're just supposed to pull them on or something. The next part is technically my problem (or genetics) but apparently my right foot is a little bit bigger than the left, which makes it extremely difficult to pull my almost-knee-length-three-hundred-dollar-drop-dead-gorgeous boots on. It literally took me a full 5 minutes to put my boots on each morning!

Then, the unthinkable happened: the boots gave me blisters! Painful blisters that hurt so bad each step, that I couldn't even wear them for a while. But, I am nothing if not stubborn and I would not let these boots win! (Especially considering how expensive they were). I stuck cotton pads and band-aids on the backs of my ankles in hopes that this would solve the problem. But alas, it was not so. Each time I had to pull the boots on, they pushed the band-aids off the blisters!

So for quite some period of time I could not wear the boots. Until I came up with the most briliant-est, simplest problem solver ever! The shoe horn! (A.K.A. The most genus invention in the world). Now I can slide my foot right into the boots (even my right one) and the band-aids don't get pushed off. Sheer genius. Plus, it now only takes me 56.1 seconds to put my boots on (yup, I timed myself).

So, moral of the story is. Roots should put a warning label on their boots. Caution: Shoe Horn Necessary.Darehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05422222179706234915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4390900406905637057.post-76156589319944659012013-03-19T18:24:00.002-07:002013-03-19T18:24:36.560-07:00First I'd like to warn you that today's post will be shorter and a little more somber than usual. And that's because last night I got some very upsetting news.

My Granddad past away yesterday. He had cancer and had recently gotten extremely sick. Of course it's sad, and I'm going to miss him very much, but it's nice to know he is in a better place now. Seventeen years ago, the doctors gave him only five years to live. Twelve years ago I would have too young to even remember him very well and my little brother wouldn't even have been born yet. And so I am extremely thankful that he had the chance to see me grow up, and to know my brother and his four other beautiful grandchildren. Rest in peace, Granddad. You will be missed <3

In case your wondering why I'm telling strangers I only know through the internet this very personal information, well, it's because I needed to get it off my chest. I haven't even told my friends yet. I'm just not good with ... confrontation. And I guess it's way easier for me to type things onto a computer screen than to actually tell people face to face. I will get there... eventually.

What is your take on the belief that everything happens for a reason? Personally, I strongly believe this. Yes, it is a very optimistic view on life, but I like having faith that everything will work out in the end. Now I know some people oppose this view by saying that this belief represses free choice. However, I don't feel that thinking everything happens for a reason means you don't have to make choices. It's a very debatable topic. Post your thoughts below because I'd love to hear them!

Mr. Werner Heisenberg everybody!

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle is a law used mainly in chemistry and physics that was invented by some old guy with a really fun name to say (Werner Heisenberg!) who also just happens to share a birthday with me (no big deal). It is essentially the basis of quantum mechanics - which is quite possibly the most annoying and pretentious subject to learn. It basically consists of being taught rule A, then five minutes later being told that rule A is actually wrong and that you should really use rule B, but only sometimes. Like, what??? Seriously, if you plan on maintaining your sanity, do not take quantum mechanics!

Ok, if you guys are still with me, I'll get to the point now.

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states that at any given time, you can only know an electron's position or it's speed, but not both. Talk about confusing.

Right about now, you may be asking yourself, "What's with the chemistry lesson, Dare? I thought you hated science?" I'm getting there, I promise.

In the wee hours of this morning (because obviously that's when I have all my brilliant ideas - when I'm supposed to be sleeping), I woke up suddenly with a thought. An analogy, really. And this was it: my life is the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

Do you see this diagram of an atom? The teal and orange balls squished together in middle represent the nucleus, i.e. me. The balls that are floating around on the blue, circular orbits are electrons. They are constantly moving around the nucleus and they represent everything in my life that I have to deal with. For example, family, friends, school, finances, food, exercise, life goals, summer employment, etc.

All these things are zooming around me so fast and I can't catch up. I can only focus my attention on one thing at a time, and even then, I can only control half of it. Let's look at school for an example. Currently, I'm in science and I constantly have work to do and classes and labs to attend. Just focussing on that is hard enough. But now I have decided that I am switching out of science and there are several information sessions, meetings, and deadlines that I have to pay attention to in order to properly switch programs. I don't know which to focus on at one time: my current school work, or my future school plans? (I.e. Where school is right now vs. how fast it's moving.)

I feel like my brain is going to explode!

Well anyways, just needed to get that off my chest! I hope you enjoyed that minor chemistry lesson.

I'm talking about those straight up weird obsessions that you never tell anyone about because you know they'll stare at you like you've grown a second head.

We all have them. I know you do.

So that y'all can get to know me better, I've to decided to share with the entire internet (okay, the small portion of the internet that reads my blog) the weirdest obsessions that I have. You should note that this is a condensed version - I have too many weirdness-es (yes, I said weirdness-es) to count.

1) Names. Okay, but not just names, no. Yahoo Answers, "Pregnancy and Parenting - Baby Names". I can spend hours, hours, on Yahoo Answers giving people advice on what to name their babies or book characters. And I enjoy it. I've always loved names. I have a list of all my favourite names saved on my laptop so I can make suggestions or even add to it. I think it may be a side affect of being a book lover, because when ever I see a name I like, I instantly create a character profile for him/her in my head. And when I see people, I always try to guess what their names are (but it's always disappointing when my Nick turns out to be a Tyler, or Sebastian is actually a Michael).

2) Wishing on 11:11. I swear by this... practically religiously. Everyday for five years I <strike>wished</strike> prayed for a dog every single 11:11. When I was just about to give up, throw in the towel and declare wishing overrated, I got a dog. And I swear to you, he was worth every wish. All 1,825 of them.

Meet Wesley. He's cute and he knows it.

3) Falling in love with fictional characters. But not just a casual "Oh, yeah, I love [Insert name of totally amazing fictional character here]." I'm talking head-over-heals in love. Like if Harry Potter walked through my door right now (Harry Potter, not Daniel Radcliffe), and asked me to marry him, I would. In a heart beat. No questions asked. Same goes for Jesse De Silva from Meg Cabot's the Mediator series and many other people who don't exist in real life. Sigh.

4) Phineas and Ferb. I love this show. It's probably unhealthy for an eighteen year-old to love a show meant for young children as much as I do, but I don't care. I have the lyrics to the theme song memorized, no joke.

5) Food Blogs. One of my <strike>worst</strike> best methods of procrastination is scrolling through various food blogs and drooling over delicious looking meals and desserts I know I can't have because, by some cruelty, I'm forced to eat caff food. I like to imagine myself making them, though. And eating them. Definitely eating them.

So there you have it: five of my weirdness-es. I have probably told one of each of these to different people and have all gotten the same reaction. The woah-did-you-know-you've-spontaneously-grown-a-second-head look.

Now for no other reason other than the fact that I can, I will proceed to spam you with pictures of my dog!
I feel like it's been forever since I've blogged and I miss you guys! Seriously!

So here's what's been going on with me:

TEA!!!! So remember when I told you I had David's Tea for the first time and absolutely loved it? Well now it's all I can think about! Like I'm craving it. Do you think they put something addicting in their tea??? I don't even care because it's seriously the best tea ever and I mean, it's tea! It's not like it's bad for you. I had to go back and buy some to take home with me but since it's loose leaf tea, I had to buy a tea ball too. But now that I have this tea ball, I feel like I need to put it to good use and buy more tea! (And a new travel mug now that I think of it). Gah! It's a vicious cycle of deliciousness!

I realize you all probably think I'm crazy now, raving about tea of all things. I have four words for you: Red Velvet Cake Tea. I'm not kidding you. This is like my new favourite thing on the planet. With a splash of skim milk and a squirt of agave nectar (which reminds me, I need to go buy more agave too!) this beverage is heavenly! Here's a picture of me drinking some now, in a bowl-sized mug!

What are your favourite tea flavours? Mine are Chai, Earl Grey, and Red Velvet Cake, obviously! But there are so many more David's Tea flavours I want to try such as Mint Chocolate, Cinnamon Heart, Salted Caramel, and Cookie Dough! (Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?) There's even one called Movie Night which actually has bits of popcorn in it (not sure how this would turn out though...)

Question for you guys: Are you a tea or a coffee drinker?

I had this one friend in high school who swore she could tell if people were tea or coffee people just by looking at them. I stumped her though because I like a bit of both. Technically, I prefer lattes to actual coffee but I love the smell of coffee and will occasionally enjoy the beverage with a few shakes of cinnamon (there absolutely has to be cinnamon, though). Overall, I guess I am more of a tea person though (if my above ramblings are any indication!)Darehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05422222179706234915noreply@blogger.com11
